200 Series — Cr-Mn-Ni austenitic stainless steel300 Series — Cr-Ni austenitic stainless steel301— Good ductility, used for molding products. Rapid hardening by machining. Good weldability. Abrasion resistance and fatigue strength better than 304 stainless steel.302 — Corrosion resistance the same as 304, better strength because of higher carbon content.303 — Easier for cutting than 304 by adding little sulphur and phosphorous. 304 — Universal stainless steel material, higher antirust property than 200 series stainless steel material. Better high temperature (1000-1200°C) resistance. 304 stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance and better intercrystalline corrosion resistance, and can better resist corrosion of aqueous alkali and most organic and inorganic acids.309 — Better temperature resistance than 304.316-Most widely used steel type second to 304. It is mainly used for food industry, pharmaceutical industry and surgical operation equipment, and gets a special anticorrosion structure because of molybdenum element addition. It has better chloride corrosion resistance than 304, so it is used as “ship steel”.321 — Reducing the risk of weld seam corrosion because of titanium element addition. Other properties similar to 304. 400 series — Ferrite and martensite stainless steel408 — Good heat resistance, weak corrosion resistance.409 — Cheapest model, commonly used for car exhaust pipe, belonging to ferrite stainless steel (chrome steel).410 — Martensite (high-strength chrome steel), good abrasion resistance, poor corrosion resistance.430 — Ferrite stainless steel for decoration, such as car accessory. Good moldability, poor temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
