Flattener NO.1
Flattener NO.1

Detailed Product Description

Function

The flattener is used to remove coil set at the head end of coils to facilitate strip feed into the line.

Features

Five hardened steel flattener rolls run in grease lubricated antifriction bearings and are supported in the main housing.

The three lower rolls are fixed.

The two upper rolls are mounted in separate bearing blocks that are individually adjusted to set the roll mesh by means of two hydraulic motor driven screw jacks. Each pair of screw jacks is connected via synchronizing shafts. Encoders monitor the screw jack positions. Roll intermesh is automatically set prior to the new coil entering the peeler and then if necessary may be manually adjusted by the operator.

The bottom work rolls pass-line is located below strip pass line.

The top rolls housing are preloaded in the operating position and retracted together for quick opening by two double acting hydraulic cylinders.

The 5 flattener rolls are driven via a gearbox and multi output pinion box assembly by a single variable speed vector controlled AC motor, via universal drive shafts.

The entry pinch roll bottom deflector roll is located at a fixed position at strip pass line.  The top roll is normally open; closing to feed the lead end of a new coil into the flattener rolls.       The pinch roll is opened and closed by two double acting pneumatic cylinders.

The top pinch roll is driven by a hydraulic motor.
