Function
The tension leveler in conjunction with the line bridles improves strip flatness by inducing a nominal permanent elongation in the material through a process of repeated bending around small diameter rolls under tension.
Features
The extension roll carriage work rolls are sized to facilitate operating over the full gauge range of materials. The cartridge is mounted on a 105° angle to the strip passline to prevent work roll deflection during engagement.
1 pair of extension cartridges is provided and may either be used simultaneously with the operating spare cartridge or more usually with one operating and the operating spare as standby.
An anti-crossbow roll unit for removing the transverse direction set will be provided.
An anti-coil set unit for removing the longitudinal direction set will be provided.
Roll position of extension unit and anti-crossbow/coil set units will be adjusted by vector controlled electric motors with position feedback using rotary encoders.
The lower extension roll and anti-crossbow rolls are mounted in a common moveable platen for quick opening. The platen is guided within the frame to maintain proper alignment and is actuated up/down by hydraulic cylinders.
Leveler housings are of steel construction and provide support for the following:
The extension unit/The upper anti-coil set unit/The anti-crossbow unit/The deflector rolls/The bottom quick open housing
Upper extension unit is opened and closed by means of hydraulic cylinders.
Adjustable extension and anti-crossbow units are mounted on movable beams, slide mounted in the bottom quick open housing.
Roll mesh adjustment of the bottom flexing unit is by means of motor driven screw jacks.
Extension and anti-crossbow/anti-coil set rolls are of special steel construction and chrome plated.
The extension and anti-crossbow rolls are mounted on intermediate rolls made from hardened alloy steel.
Special steel backup rolls are of tubular construction, mounted on roller bearings. Units are arranged in a staggered pattern to minimize striping.
Special steel deflector rolls are of tubular construction, chrome plated and mounted on roller bearings.
All piping on machine is brought to a specified termination point.
Lubrication is by manual centralized grease system for all points except the back-up rolls (which are prepacked).
