Sprial wound gasket with graphite or PTFE filler, inner and outer ring
The gasket comprises a spirally-wound beaded metal band ( Standard: 316L; other materials possible ) in which a non-metallic band ( graphite or PTFE ) overlaying on both sides is inserted between the individual spirals of the metal band. The inner and outer ring serve to stabilise the spirals wherety the outer ring centres the flange screws. It is used in flanges with raised faces mainly for problem applications and under extreme conditions. One main area of appilication is the petrochemical industry.
