1. Current situation
At present, the smart water meter in the market(IC card water meter, RF card water meter, prepaid water meter etc.) all use the built-in lithium battery, which is hard to maintain long battery life. 2. Working principle and related performance index of power-free smart meter
Power-free smart meter is controlled by “control device”, which is a “Recharge device”. When the recharge device with battery inserted into the control device, quantity will be recharged and the valve will be opened in short time. Then remove the recharge device. The meter will be in mechanical state, and measurement is done through water flow and pressure. The prepaid quantity is reducing according to the usage, when the quantity reduced to 0, the valve closes.

3. Booking quantity way is substitute option for both prepaid meter and remote meter.
a. in the prepaid method, users should pay before using water, which makes it convenient for the water company, but inconvenient for the users, because user can not recharge when the water dept or bank is off work.
b. remote way could realize remote reading,which could solve the manual reading problem. By this way, user still have to go to the bank for recharging. And the wire remote way need cable set, wireless remote way need battery support and wireless tunnel, which maintenance cost is high.
c. the booking quantity way, user can book quantity according to their usage,in which realized self-reading. The reading period is confirmed, be paid before next booking. There is no need for water company to set cable and use wireless reading device. It is convenient for both user and water company.
