1, What’s Xinjiang Cotton?

Xinjiang Cotton is an Extra Long Staple cotton grown in the region of Xinjiang province, China. The fiber length is around 36-37 mm; micronaire is between 3.5 and 4.0 with a good resistance. All our high end fabrics are made from Xinjiang cotton, which ensures the high quality of our products.

2, What does Yarn-count & Thread-count mean?

Yarn-count: The fineness of each yarn is what the term yarn cotton refers to - the higher the yarn cotton, the finer the yarn. Finer yarns allow for lighter, softer fabric.

Thread-countis simply the number of threads per square inch of fabric. These consist of vertical yarns (warp) and horizontal yarns (weft) woven together.

Take 40s*40s 200TC (110*90) for example, 40s*40s is the count of the warp & weft yarn, 200TC (110*90) is the thread count, which consists of the 100 warp yarns and 90 weft yarns in one square inch of fabric.

3. Does good quality yearns and high thread count equals to good quality bed linen?

The answer is Yes and No. High quality yarns made from long-staple cotton and high thread count are some of the major factors determining the ultimate hand feel and quality of the bed linen. But, the yarn finish and fabric finish are also very important.

Uncombed (carded) yarns can have a bad "looking" and you can see the yarn is not smooth. Fabric finish includes 2 most important steps, singeing and mercerizing. The singeing process is vital; it burns off the tiny fuzz that can later develop into pilling and furry surface after washing. Mercerizing is a treatment conducted under tension, in order to increase strength, luster, affinity for dye and easy to iron after washing.

4. What’s the difference between 100% cotton, 50% cotton / 50%polyester, and 100% polyester bed linens?

100% cotton means the fabric is made entirely from cotton. Cotton breaths and is more comfortable than synthetics like Polyester. But shrinkage and easy to crease is inevitable.50% cotton and 50% polyester means half of the threads are made of cotton and half are synthetic threads made of polyester. The synthetics are added to give the material longer life as synthetics doesn't wear out as quickly as cotton, and easy to handle with after washing.

100% polyester means the fabric is made entirely from polyester, Due to the greater degree of elasticity than cotton yarn, which helps hold the bed linen in shape and doesn't shrink. But, as the fabric is “breathless”, it can be quite uncomfortable to sleep under, especially in hot summer.

5. How about the shrinkage?

Normally our well finished 100% cotton fabric will shrink around 3-5% after the first wash and then never again. And the shrinkage has been built into the measurements of our bed linens, so, once washed they will be the right size to fit well.
