Basic knowledge

Sodium hyaluronate is a viscous solution consisting of a high molecular weight (500,000-730,000 daltons) fraction of purified natural sodium hyaluronate in buffered physiological sodium chloride. 

It is used as a viscosupplement, administered through a series of injections into the knee, increasing the viscosity of the synovial fluid, which helps lubricate, cushion and reduce pain in the joint.It may also be used in plastic surgery to reduce wrinkles on the face or as a filler in other parts of the body. It may be used in ophthalmology to assist in the extraction of cataracts, the implantation of intraocular lenses, corneal transplants, glaucoma filtra, retinal attachment and in the treatment of dry eyes.   How to use 1. Cataract surgery and Intraocular lens implantationThe proper amount of drug shall be inserted very slowly into the forward chamber before (or after) removal of lens using needle or cannula. The effects for protecting endothelial cell as a viscoelastic supply, will reach an optimum level when use before removing the lens or inserting the IOL into the chamber. This drug can be useful for coating the IOL and operating tools. 2. Corneal TransplantationRemove the corneal button and the drug can be inserted until the level reaches as the surface of cornea. Then transplant the donor‘s corneal button and suture it. 3. Glaucoma Filtering SurgeryDuring trabeculectomy, to maintain the anterior chamber the drug shall be inserted using keracentesis.   Specification
