It is white or transparent odorless crystal, bitter. It is easy to dissolve in water but a .little in alcohol. In dry air, it is easy to turn to powder. It loses crystal water and turns to magnesium sulphate anhydrous while heating. It can be used for agriculture, industry, food, feed, medicine etc.

1)In Medicine: it can be swelling ,for the treatment of post-traumatic limb swelling
2)In Industry:it can be used for tanning ,explosives ,fertilizers paper ,porcelain, lead-acid batteries
3) In agriculture and gardening, it can used to correct magnesium deficiency in soil .It is most commonly applied to potted plants, or to magnesium-hungry crops, such as potatoes, roses, tomatoes, peppers and cannabis. The advantage of magnesium sulphate over other magnesium soil amendments (such as dolomitic lime) is its high solubility.
