The axial load carrying capacity increases with the contact angle. Due to the large contact angle, single row angular contact ball bearings are more suitable than deep groove ball bearings for suporting large axial forces actingin one direction.

Single row angular contact ball bearings can support radial loads and unilateral axial loads.They are adjusted against a second bearing that provides counterguidance.

Double row angular contact ball bearings are similar n design to a pair of single row angular contact ball bearings n an O arrangement. In this case, the apexes fothe cones formed by the ball pressure lines point outwards.

Double row angular contact ball bearings can support axial forces in both directions and high radial forces. They are particularly suitable for bearing arrangements where rigid axial guidance is required.
