 Choose your right type of pruner

Hand pruners come in one of three varieties.Making sure you use the kind of pruner with which you feel most comfortable and can make clean cuts will help ensure good prunage.

 

Anvil

The anvil pruner uses a sharpened wedge that presses against a flattened metal anvil surface. They are designed to cut twigs and small branches. Anvil pruners are also used for removing dead plants and woody growth, though they are sometimes difficult to use in tight spaces.

Ratchett

Ratchet pruners are essentially a modified version of the anvil pruner, but they use a mechanical ratcheting action that allows for easier use. These pruners are ideal for people with arthritis or other health concerns that do not have the strength to muscle a cut with bypass or anvil pruners.

Bypass

This product from our facotry is a bypass pruner. These tools also have two blades, usually semi-circular in shape, that cut the plant material by passing by one another and forcing the material against the edges of both blades at the same time. These pruners are popular and provide clean cuts. Large, two-handed bypass pruners are used to cut larger branches and stalks that anvil pruners would otherwise be unable to cut
