Introduction of Luo Han Guo Extract

Luo Han Guo (Siraitia grosvenorii, or Momordica grosvenorii), that is mangosteen of cucurbitaceous family, the ripe fruit of a kind of perennial grass liana. There have been thousands of years that Chinese have known to soak the Luo Han Guo in water as a drink. Traditional of Chinese medicine as well applies it to cure disease, such as high blood pressure, pulmonary tuberculosis, asthma, gastritis, whooping cough, acute & chronic tracheitis and acute & chronic tonsillitis, etc. It is proved by recent researches that mogrosides is the main effective medical components. Luo Han Guo fruit and its extract are dual-use in therapeutic and health products. At present, Luo Han Guo is allowed use as a food additive in these countries: Japan, Korea, Thailand, Singapore, British, and China, etc.

 

What is Magou-VTM?

Magou-VTM is the brand name of Luo Han Guo extract manufactured by Hill Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., which is manufactured with our know-how technical through strict quality control system. It will meet cGMP and Kosher requirement. Magou-VTM will conform to a serial of high quality standard including color, solubility, tastes and standardized by 40% Mogroside V. Magou-VTM is standardized by 40% Mogroside V, while some other brands Luo Han Guo extract are labeled as 80% Mogrosides, what’s the difference between them?80% Mogrosides will contain all components which have same mogrol, among them there are some non-sweet components like Mogroside IV, and also bitter components like Mogroside A, Mogrosides II and Neomogroside. Since the main purpose of Magou-VTM will be used as sweetener, then the only meaningful way to control the quality will be to calculate the potency of the real sweet component. Mogroside V is one of the most sweet constitute in Luo Han Guo (another most sweet constitute is Siamenside I, but it is very few in Luo Han Guo, and not realistic in economic to extract it as a sweetener), therefore we standardize our product by this component. We have ever collect from market several brands Luo Han Guo extract which all claimed as 80% mogrosides, but their sweet potency is quite different, and the contents of Mogroside V in them differed from 17.6% to 34.4%. Therefore we prefer to control our product only by Mogroside V through a HPLC method, which is more accuracy to represent the true quality of the product.

Why we set Mogroside V 40% as the quality standard, not 60% or 20%?

It is proved by our researches that an extract contains 20% Magroside V will keep too many characteristic Luo Han Guo taste, therefore this grade should not be suitable as sweetener. On another hand, when the content of Mogroside V has been improved to 60% in the extract, its cost will be double of 40% grade when receive same sweet degree, but its taste in purity side seems has not been conspicuously meliorated. Consequently, we standardized our Magou-VTM by 40% Mogroside V to enable our customers will use the best products at relative lowest costs.
