Leyden Jar is used for demonstration of the basic principle of capacitance and its use in storage of charge. Comprises an insulated plastic can along with a two metal conducting cans one inside the plastic vessel and the other outside, the dielectric plastic can providing complete insulation between the two metal cans. The inner can has a hook shaped metal rod terminating in a metal sphere at the top for charging / discharging the Leyden jar. The apparatus can be easily disassembled and once charged in assembled condition, retains its charge even after assembly and disassembly.
