Curtain coat wax is applied on the corrugated board or container board. In the curtain coating application, the board is allowed to pass horizontally through a curtain of falling wax. Apart from the common coat wax, it produces a stable and even curtain, and increases the flexibility of coatings so as to prevent scoreline cracks when bending the board.
The corrugated board or container board is primarily used to produce boxes for shipping. After treated by curtain coat wax, the curtained box are much stronger than noncurtained box in the moist environment. The curtained boxes are widely used for packing frozen and refrigerated food, seafood, produce, poultry, meat and other foods.
