The principle of impressed current cathodic protection is in connecting an external anode to the material to be protected from corrosion and passing of an external ( impressed ) electrical DC current.

The high silicon content ensures that the alloy forms a protective film containing silicon dioxide, SiO2. The film has high resistivity and chemistry stability, which is in passive state under acid conditions, so it can reduce the dissolving rate for anode. Moreover, after covered by Chromium, the protection film of SiO2 of HSCI is develped to resist corrosion from alkali and chloride ion, so that anode can be applied for strong choloride conditions. Therefore, HSCI Anode with Chromium adapts to all kinds of land and water environments.
