Sand barrier mechanism
Field survey found that when the steel sand barrier is 1.5M high, aperture ratio 40%, it can block half of the sand that falls on the windward side, the other half of the sand goes through the barrier and falls on the leeward side. Thus the sand barrier is protected from collapsing. It forms a flat near the barrier to slow down the wind speed. The sand will eventually stop at the barrier evenly and forms a sand resistance dike (artificial dike) which has a significant effect of sand blocking. In most cases, even if the sand barrier was completely buried in the sand to form an artificial dike, it still plays a role in blocking the sand in the subsequent long period of time.
Application
The roads and railway go through desert and Gobe areas is facing poor natural conditions. Traffic is frequently suspended due to the strong wind and sand. People plant trees, shrub and grass along the road to prevent the wind and fix the sand. But due to drought and water shortage, the survival rate of these plants is low and the cost of maintenance is high. It is difficult to solve the problem of sand resistance and sand damage fundamentally.
