Cryolipolysis:

When fat is made very cold (just above the freezing point), fat cells become irreparably damaged. CoolSculpting is a novel technology that selectively makes fat cells cold, in turn causing permanent and effective fat cell loss. Once the fat cells are treated, the body clears them through a natural process over a span of 3 to 6 months.

1. What happens to the fat cells?

During the procedure, exposure to cooling causes fat cell apoptosis, which leads to the release of fat layer. The fat cells in the treated area are gently eliminated through the body's normal metabolism process, much like fat from food.

2. What will happen after the treatment?

The CoolSculpting procedure is non-invasive. Most patients typically resume their routine activities, including returning to work and exercise regimens on the same day as the procedure.Transient local redness, bruising and numbness of the skin are common side effects of the treatment and expected to subside in couple of hours. Typically sensory deficits will subside within 1~8 weeks.

With this non-invasive procedurethere is no need for anesthesia or pain medications, and no recovery time. The procedure is comfortable for most patients can read, work on their laptop computer, listen to music or just relax.

3. How long does it take to see results?

Most of our patients begin to see changes after 1 to 2 months. However, it can take up to 6 months to see the final result. Some patients elect to have a second treatment to eliminate as much fat as possible.

4.How much fat can you remove?

A one hour CoolSculpting session will treat an area about the size of your palm. We can treat 2 differnet areas in any given session. Research shows that CoolSculpting can eliminate up to 25% of the fat in each area we treat. Additional treatments can remove more fat in any one area, so multiple treatments (to the same area) are cumulative.

5.What areas are most commonly treated?

For now we often treat the love handles, hips, upper and lower abdomen, and bra-line fat. CoolSculpting is developing technology that will hopefully allow us to treat the outer and inner thighs, knees and arms in the future.

6.Are there side effects after a CoolSculpting treatment?

After the CoolSculpting procedure patients typically resume normal activities such as work or exercise. Redness may appear in the treated area, and may last from a few minutes to a few hours. Some localized bruising may occur. Some patients experience a temporary dulling of sensation in the treated area.
