Ball mill working principle

The ball mill is a drum-type rotating device transmitted by the outer gear. The materials are transferred to the grinding chamber thought the quill shaft uniformly. There are ladder liner and ripple liner and different specifications of steel balls in the chamber. The centrifugal force caused by rotation of barrel brings the steel balls to a certain height and impact and grind the materials. The ground materials are discharged through the discharging board thus the grinding process is finished.

Our new developed cone ball mill adopts double series automatic core adjusting roller bearings, which greatly reduces the operation resistance, the energy is significantly saved. A cone-cylinder is added to the material output end of the original cylinder, which enlarges the effective capacity of the mill, and also makes medium distribution in the cylinder more reasonable. This series mill is widely used in the non-ferrous metal, ferrous metal, non-metallic mineral processing plant and chemical and building material industries for the abrasive purpose.

Ball Mill Features

Brief introduction

Ball mill grinds material by rotating a cylinder with steel grinding balls, causing the balls to fall back into the cylinder and onto the material to be ground. The rotation is usually between 4-20 revolutions per minutes, depending upon the diameter of the mill. The larger the diameter, the slower the rotation is. If the speed of the mill is too great, it begins to act like a centrifuge and the balls do not fall back, but stay on the perimeter of the mill. The point where the mill becomes a centrifuges is called the “critical speed”, and the ball mill usually operate at 65% to 75% of the critical speed.

Ball mill is mainly composed of charging and discharging, cyclone and rotation parts( as redactor, minor rotation gear, motor, electric machine, etc). hollow axis is made of steel parts with a lining replacable. Major rotation gear, machined by rolling wheel of casting, is lined with wearing plate with fine wear-resisting property.

This machine runs stably and reliably. Based on difference of materials and discharging types, dry ball mill and wet ball mill are available.
