Operating Principle
In this class of crusher, comminution is by impact rather than compression, by sharp blows applied at high speed to free-falling rock. When the materials are fed, the moving beaters transfer some of their kinetic energy to the ore particles on contacting them. The internal stress created in the particles are often large enough to cause them to shatter. Then the crushed particles are thrown to the impact plates on the rotor for secondary crush and shot back to the beaters again for the third crush. This process repeats until the materials are crushed to the required size and discharged from the lower part of the machine. The size and shape of the crushed powder can be changed by adjusting the gap between the impact plates and rotor support .
