GB 18401-2010 to be Enforced on August, 2011

The amendment of the mandatory textiles and apparels standard GB 18401-2010 has been approved and will be enforced from 1st Aug, 2011. The important updates are as below:
1. Scope: Chapter1, GB18401-2010 points out that the standard is also applicable to home textile products; GB18401-2003 didn't mention.
2. Cited normative documents: Chapter 2, according to Annex C of GB18401-2010, list of unallowable decomposed aromatic amine under reducing condition: added GB/T 23344 Textile determination of 4-Aminoazobenzene;
GB18401-2003 has not GB/T 23344 Textile determination of 4-
Aminoazobenzene.

Aminoazobenzene.
3. Terms and definitions: Chapter 3.3, in GB18401-2010, products normally suitable for children 36 months of age or younger in a height of 100cm or under can be deemed as textile products for infants; in GB18401-2003, products for babies: used for babies up to 24 months old.
4. Requirements:Chapter 5.1 table1, PH value of Type B is 4.0~8.5 in GB18401-2010; PH value of Type B is 4.0~7.5 in GB18401-2003.
Chapter 5.1 remark B in table 1, GB18401-2010 added: Not applicable to: products that are of original colour or bleached products; traditional handcrafted products such as tie dyed or wax printed products;
GB18401-2003 specified, not applicable to the discolored products in washing.
Chapter 5.2, GB18401-2010 added: Testing for colorfastness to perspiration of hanging and decorative products such as curtains is not required;
Chapter 5.1 remark B in table 1, GB18401-2010 added: Not applicable to: products that are of original colour or bleached products; traditional handcrafted products such as tie dyed or wax printed products;
