New high performance steel sheet piling

Advanced SheetPiles are manufactured using advanced cold rolling techniques complying with the European Standard EN10249, Part 1 and 2.

Unlike the conventional cold formed sheet piles, the strength of Advanced SheetPiles sheet piles is enhanced by the patented  self-crimping interlocking joints.

The Advanced SheetPiles sheet pile profile, including the interlocking edges is formed entirely by cold rolling from steel coils, and is therefore virtually free from common weakness associated with defective welds.

When a sufficiently large compressive force is transmitted across the  interlocked joint, the  engaging curls of the joints can rotate inwards and bind tightly together. This interlocking mechanism enables the assembled Advanced SheetPiles sheet piles to form a stiff wall with higher section modulus.

The research on this innovative interlocking joint was conducted at the University of Western Australia by Ong (2006) under the oversight of Prof M. Randolph.

The structural performance of the 1.32m wide Advanced SheetPiles W wall with an interlocked joint at the neutral axis was analyzed by 3D finite element Abaqus program (HKS,1997). The results showed that the effects of reduced modulus action (Byfield and Mawer, 2004)  due to interlocked joint slippage was not significantly observed.

Validations by the centrifuge tests proved convincingly that the  Advanced SheetPiles W sheet piles was able to form a rigid wall.

The behaviour of Advanced SheetPiles interlocked sheet piles wall has been repeatedly tested under harsh driving conditions. It was found that in spite of the severely buckled web and flanges, the interlocked joints remained closed.

Further in another case, the interlocked Advanced SheetPiles sheet piles were  heavily driven into a hard stratum until the base of the sheet piles were damaged. Upon extraction of the sheet piles, it was noticed that the flange and web sections at the base of the individual crushed sheet pile were torn consistently away from the closed interlocked joints.

Advanced SheetPiles currently offers two main profiles w and u, which can be assembled into different configurations:

Advanced SheetPiles w Advanced SheetPiles u Advanced SheetPiles t Advanced SheetPiles W

Advanced SheetPiles w at 34.7kg/m2 is the most economical sheet piling profile for shallow basement   excavations.

For deeper excavations, Advanced SheetPiles u and t are recommended.

Advanced SheetPiles W wall has extremely high wall stiffness which is adept for embedded cantilevered walls in soft ground. Due to the large 1.32m cross-sectional width of the interlocked sheet pile wall, it provides high bending stiffness with additional moment stability from shear stresses acting on the back and front faces of the wall.

We can provide a suitable selection of Advanced SheetPiles sheet piling for cost-effective solutions to your retaining walls.

Advanced SheetPiles proprietary Leq© design program for cantilevered and propped walls embedded on a slope can be requested for approved clients upon registration at the web site:  (www.advancedsheetpiles.com)

Our technical backup offers comprehensive services and tailored solutions to the   design, specifications, etc from the architect, geotechnical consultants and relevant authorities.

The conventional concrete T or L-shaped cantilevered wall is normally heavily reinforced and supported over soft ground by very deeply and closely spaced end bearing piles. Whereas a revolutionary concept is proposed to resist the overturning force by directly mobilizing the horizontal passive resistance of soil along the depth of a very stiff embedded Advanced SheetPiles wall.

For an aesthetic and durable exposure to sea salt spray, the steel sheet pile wall is  protected by a layer of concrete with mesh reinforcements.

The wavy concrete wall can accommodates differential settlement in soft ground, thus avoiding an unnecessary weakness in having constructions joints had the typical adjoining wall panels been flat.

Additional corrosion protection can be specified by using hot dip galvanized coatings for the sheet piles complying to the specifications and test methods AS 1214-1983 or BS EN ISO 1461:1999.

The main attractive advantage of Advanced SheetPiles wall lies in the material cost saving of 25%-200% based on the profile used compared to traditional steel sections due to its highest stiff-ness/weight and section modulus/weight ratio, surpassing even all the existing large hot rolled sheet piles and pipe piles in its class.

For a single basement building wall, the lightest hot rolled sheet pile available is about 3x that of Advanced SheetPiles w profile of 34.7kg/m2.

Advanced SheetPiles w and u sheet piles are on average between 10%-75% higher in strength to weight ratio when compared to the cold formed sheet piles by others.

In fact, Advanced SheetPiles W is the only profile that has very high stiffness, unmatched by any light gauge sheet piles in the market. This rigid Advanced SheetPiles W wall is specially adept for remedying landslides and is used as heavy duty cantilevered retaining walls.

Advanced SheetPiles has successfully patented and pioneered the cold rolling of the largest commercial sheet pile using high grade steel. The straightness and precision of the product gives it maximum water tightness and ease of driving.

There is every reason to use Advanced SheetPiles sheet piles in terms of costs, strength, quality, ease of driving and last but not least: unparalleled high  performance.

Advanced SheetPiles wall can be effectively used for:

Retaining walls on slopeSlope repairsPier foundationsBasement walls, Road wideningBreakwatersFlood wallsSeawalls etc.

Advanced SheetPiles offers the largest cold formed sheet pile that is most competitive in terms of strength to weight ratio.

The high performance Advanced SheetPiles sheet piles are manufactured under license from CREST. Our unique patented cold formed interlocks are anti-buckling, anti-jamming and self-crimping.
