Flexional Actuators, and plate Actuators in particular, are well suited to applications that demand sensitivity and a large response. They have been used to control needle movements in textile weaving machines, in switching applications, including touch-probe switches, in Braille machines, and as small-volume pumping devices, A plate Actuators can open and close a valve, position a lens or mirror in an optical device, or maintain an electrical contact.
