Sec-Butyl Acetate is one type of NBAC four isomers, which is colorless, flammable, volatile liquid with fruit fragrance. SBA is similar to NBAC as solvent -- insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents like chloroform, ethanol, acetone and ether – but with lower boiling point and faster evaporation.

Application
Solubility of SBA is similar to NBAC, IBAC as solvent, mainly used in paint like nitrocellulose, acrylic and polyurethane; used in products like resin, paint curing agent, rubber, adhesive, Celluloid products, printing ink. SBA has low cost, good solubility, moderate volatility and low toxicity when used as solvent.
SBA is used as extractant, partially substituted toluene, xylene and methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) as azeotropic distillation solvent. It can also be used as metal detergent, diluent, reaction medium; Used as the purification of penicillin. Due to its decent volatility, with good skin penetration, SBA can also be used as sorbefacient component in drug.
