Copper and copper alloy welding wire has excellent corrosion resistance and wearing resistance. So, it has wide usage. However, comparing with steel, copper and copper alloy is more difficult to weld. Its easy to cause some disadvantages such as metal oxidation, metallic element evaporation, fumaroles, crack and deformation. So during welding, it needs to notice the following things:

1.The heat expansion coefficient of copper is large. It creates big shrinkage stress when freezing, which lead to crack and deformation. For this,

the fit-up gap must be broad and the groove angle must be large. Before welded, welding wire should be cleaned in order to remove the edge

oxide, grease and other sewage.

2.Because of the heat conductivity of copper and copper alloy is extremely high, it needs to preheat and use large current to weld.

3.Prevents copper poisoning when welding.

4.The crystal grains of copper and copper alloy are coarse. To thresh the welded seam with hammer after welding can relief stress and refine

grain, which ensure welding quality.
