The Metal Pall Ring
Great improvements have been performed on the foundation of the Raschig ring, and it is punched of metal sheet, on the ring walls, there are two rows of window holes with inner tongue leaves, each window hole contains five tongue leaves extending to the inside center of the ring, and they nearly come across with each other at the ring center, the positions of the high and low rows staggered mutually, generally the total opening area is approximately 35% of the entire ring area. The openings on the ring wall help improve the distribution of gas and liquid and performance of mass transfer of the packings layers which become much better than that of the Raschig ring, it also has the characteristics of low pressure drop, large flow volume and high efficiency.
