Brief introduction:
Chromium sulfate is the most important ingredient used in the tanning of leather. It is manufactured from the simple reduction of Cr (VI) to Cr (III) by the addition of an excess of sulphur dioxide:This reaction is carried out in a steam-heated vessel, and then the excess SO2 is removed in a second reaction tower. Finally, the liquid product is spray-dried to form a powder which is then bagged and sold.
Application:
The main application is making chrome tanned leather, insolubilizing proteins and other organic substances
Transport and storage:
It is not toxic and need not special treating or handing. Store in dry area with cover and avoid sunlight and moisture.
