Potassium carbonate, K2CO3, also called tartar salt, molecular weight 138.21, pure one contains K2O 68.12%,density 2.43g/cm3, melting point 891,high thermal stability, undecomposed above 1000, strong moisture absorption, easy to deliquate in the air, its water solution is alkaline; When it takes in Co2, it can be changed into solid potassium bicarbonate. K2CO3 is insoluble in ethanol and aether.

APPLICATION:
1. Medicine industry: It is used as the raw material of potassium penicillin, diuretic postassium acetate, and monopotassium phosphate, etc. In the medical midbody, it is mainly used in manufacturing postassium acetate and potassium bromide auxiliary.
2. Electronic industry: It is used as the raw material of glass envelope of kinescope and vacuum tube; 3. Glass industry: It is used in manufacturing the additives of auto windshield, camera lens, glass, lamp chimney and window of electric appliances, etc., which is featured by enhancing glasses transparency, high resistance, low softening point and aging proof;4. Food industry: It is used as main raw material of antiseptic, such as potassium sorbate and potassium citrate. As additive of instant noodle, it can make instant noodle savory, glutenous and easy to be stored; 5. Pesticide industry: It is used in manufacturing insecticide and acetamiprid. It can increase drug effect and promote growth of plant;6. Chemical industry: sodium potassium silicate for welding rod (which can promote welding and prevent arc breaking), sodium silicate potassium and anatase titanium dioxide; 7. Fertilizer industry: It is used in decarbonizing and purifying CO2 in fertilizer factory and carbinol factory; 8. It is used in manufacturing dyestuff and dope, which can make products bright, and prevent dope from shedding and washing; 9. Rubber industry: It is the main raw material of antiager 4010 and 402NA.
Besides, it is used in magnetic material, oxydol and cleaning agent for air, etc. It is also used in desulfurizing in iron and steel industry, which is developing and applying in China.
