1.Ergonomy
It’s possible to wear, adjust and remove the helmet with ease even with gloved hands. It should be provided with a three point chin strap with cotton chin cup.
2. Shape
The helmet adequately covers the neck and ears of wearer and its design is on the lines of the US
Personal Armour System Ground Troops (PASGT).The shape of the helmet facilitates the use of hand sets of in-service communication equipment .Helmet desirably has provision to mount a display system, hands free communication equipment and fix electro-optical devices as and when required.
3. Surface Finish and camouflage
Crinkle matt finish, in the following colours:
(a) Khaki/Sand
(b) Black
(c) Olive Green
(d) White.
4. Protection
(a) The ballistic helmet could able to defeat 9 mm am n fired from 9mm Carbine from 20m.
(b) The deformation in the helmet won’t exceed 13mm, the min gap necessary between the arms and inner surface of the helmet.
5. Climatic Condition
The helmet withstands repeated and sustained exposure to climatic conditions as under:
(a) Temperature ---- -50°C to +50°C.
(b) Relative Humidity ---- upto + 80%.
6. Use of optical
The design of the helmet doesn’t obstruct the use of binoculars (day and night), optical sights fitted on the weapons range finders and Artillery optical instruments like director etc.
7. Compatibility
The design of the helmet is preferably compatible to wear along with respirators and chemical hoods.
8. Comfort
The helmet doesn’t cause any undue discomfort even after prolonged wearing by an individual for more than six to eight hours.
9. Weight
The weight of the helmet should be as under:
(a)Large size helmet ----Not more than 1.45kgs.
(b)Medium Size Helmet ----Not more than 1.35kgs.
10. Inner Lining/Harness
The helmet is provided with harness which is adjustable to head size. The minimum distance between the harness and the inner surface of the helmet is 13mm. It is comfortable to wear and ensure air circulation.
11. Chin Strap
Adjustable chin strap with three point support is provided.
The material of the chin strap is suitable to withstand rough handling in the field. The buckle of the chine strap is easy to engage/disengage and its position on the cheek should not hinder aiming during firing. The material of the buckle is harmless to skin in all types of climate temperatures.
12. Size
The helmet is provide in one size, viz large size. The circumference of the helmet is adjustable as under:
(a)Large size ----58 to 62 cms
(b)Medium size ----48 to 57 cms
13. Shelf Life
Shelf life of helmet to is minimum 5 years in field conditions.
