ID Clamshell Card is RFID card with clamshell appearance. ID clamshell card is encapsulated with EM4100 or TK4100 chip, which is one of the earliest RFID chip, with 64-bit unique identity code. Like most other RFID cards, TK4100 chip clamshell card and EM4102 proximity access card is powered by and communicated with the RFID reader through RF induction technology. With similar size of credit card, ID clamshell card is much thicker, almost double thickness of standard card, so it is also called thick card.
