2,2'-Bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid is a dye to be used in DSSC, which derived from 5,5’-dimethyl-2,2’-bipyridine. The both carboxylic acid group could function as anchor fixed on the surface of ITO glass to improve the electron transfer. 2,2'-Bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxylic acid is also named as 5,5′-dicarboxy-2,2′- bipyridine or 6, 6'-binicotinic acid, function as bidentate ligand complexing with metal catalyzed organic reaction in homogeneous or heterogeneous environment system, and also is emerging as a differentiated development candidate to treat head lice infestations, named as "abametapir", licensed as Xeglyze™ Lotion by Dr’s Reddy Laboratorie.
