Properties:
1. A light, very pure, soft and delicate fabric.
2. It is woven in an open weave with tightly twisted yarns.
3. Usually thrown forty or fifty turns but sometimes as much as seventy or eighty turns to an inch.
4. Silk chiffon is made with raw silk single yarns in both warp and filling
5. Silk chiffon is woven in the gum condition and the cloth being afterwards degummed.
6. Rayon chiffon is woven with high-twist crepe yarns.
7. Chiffon is piece dyed or printed and may be given a soft or stiff finish.
8. The word “chiffon” sometimes appears before the name of other types of fabrics to indicate the lightness of that fabric, for example, chiffon velvet.
